2 channel stereo amplifier

HYBRID SCHEME
A hybrid transistor-vacuum tube circuit is not new. Among the devices of car audio there were at least a dozen of similar models at different times. TA2 originality is in the fact that the small signal circuit use not triode but pentode - CV4010 (analog EF95), manufactured in the early eighties by Valve Electronics. Because of "hybridism" it doesn’t turn on immediately; the power-delay of the anode voltage submission is about 30 seconds. Of course, the scheme is abundantly "spiced" with the elements of such manufacturers as Rybicon, Wima and others, which not only underline the status of the product, but they are also designed to ensure uncompromising sound. Removal of the heat that is produced during the work of the amplifier is provided by a heavy radiator of noble gray tide with massive cooling fins. All controls and terminals are located - in the style of DLS - at one of the long side borders. The power connecting strip emphasizes the design of "dual mono", so two pairs of power cables will be used. We would like to separately emphasize the uncompromising build quality and reasonableness of the smallest details.

MEASUREMENTS
Power under a load with a resistance of 4 ohms is an impressive 180 watts, which is abundantly sufficient for the speaker of any type. Reducing of the load resistance to 2 ohms allows getting a result in 210 W. The factor of harmonic distortion in the working band of power is low and makes 0,005%, which is not a surprise if to consider the application in the preliminary stage lights. In the spectrum of test signal with the frequency of 1000 Hz at the output the amplifier contains only second and third harmonics. Noise level is extremely low. Acoustic toughness is very small. AFC and PFC of the amplifier have a minimum irregularity. According to the study of the model, we can confidently say that: DLS UltimateTA2 is one of the best amplifiers tested in our laboratory.

LISTENING
We believe that an attempt to assess the sound of an exclusive component cannot be exhaustive apart from a particular system of listening. Therefore, please consider our estimates of DLS sound only as one of the side of the quality of the product. After replacing the "standard" amplifier with TA2 we immediately noted a significant change of sound style in the whole system; the sound became soft and smooth. But don’t equate these concepts with terms that are often used to describe the sound of cheap hybrids, because in such case we can’t speak of any blur. DLS maintained high detail and clarity up to the highest volume levels, showing no hint of distortion. Perhaps this is a great merit of high-quality power supply. In addition, we note a very soft sounding bass, maybe even too accurate filing, which undoubtedly makes this amplifier to be genre, but again, it is not in the sense that we are accustomed to. Almost complete lack of sharpness and coarseness in the sound style disputes the use of this device to play music of energetic genres. At the same time, live acoustic music, vocals, jazz and classical with the use of DLSTA2 sounded quite extraordinary; this fact automatically enables us to classify it to the best of the devices ever tested by us.
